What is God?
I had an interesting conversation with a friend about God. I'll give the highlights here.
"God" is an attempt to personalize and understand the underlying patterns of the Universe.
In Quantum Physics, there is an observation that matter is continually vanishing and emerging from 'nothing' -- what one can call the Void. Dark matter. The Field. Matter winks in and out of existence.
The Void, from which all matter emerges, is the underlying pattern source for the Universe. This Source, constantly creating, is where our upward drive comes from. That impulse to create, to reproduce, to better ourselves, to learn more, to do more, to become more, is fueled by it.
The opposite and equal force, entropy, which is the destructive, winking out of existence, the steady decay of the Universe, is the proper balance to the Source.
All of life is a cycle. We come up from the Void, we surge our way through growth, striving, attaining, and then we cycle back to the Void, in the endless dance of the Universe. We see this illustrated in the Yin/Yang symbol. The actual Yin/Yang is not static -- it is moving. Each half is becoming the other half in a constant flow of energy and matter.
So, in the minds of men, trying to come to grips with the awesome, powerful forces of the Universe, the upward push from the Void is God; the downward pull back to the Void is the Devil. There is no 'Good,' no 'Evil,' involved in this dance. There is only the cycle of creation/destruction.
As the Universe, so is everything in the Universe. We are microcosms of the macrocosm.
Humanity falls into a classic bell curve. Most people, in the middle, are rather good people. On each end of the bell you have the extremes: Extreme good; extreme not good. These people get most of the publicity. They are not proof of either a God or a Devil, just that human behavior follows the same patterns as the rest of the Universe.

Changes in Life
Life is all about changes.
I'm home now, as my job vanished in February. No matter... plenty of housework, gardening, and reading to keep me busy. None of that 'pays', however... but I'm saving a bit of money, by growing a lot of our fresh food.
Right now, at this point in life, another change - caring for an injured spouse.
Nothing ever really stays the same. Life is all about change. Now I'm the nurturing one, the one that runs and fetches, that provides comfort, that is the steady Rock.
This isn't forever, of course. It will change. Life goes on.

New Adventures
My part-time job has gone away, and rather than trying to find another one, I'm listening to the Universe, and launching a different pursuit.
It's time for me to start teaching Reiki.
I'm rewriting my Reiki manuals, and I'll be setting up some local venues for teaching.
This is exciting.

New Blog
Okay, I have another blog. This one is basically food related. Not tofu specific, either.
It's called Vegan Fluff, and it's about eating Vegan, living Vegan, and dealing with not fitting into the skinny Vegan ideal that everything THINKS vegans should be.
